ABOUT US

THE BIRTH OF BABY SETUP

After working for as long as she could whilst pregnant with her first baby, Jo Kirby like all expectant mothers, asked her friends for advice about what she would need for the nursery. Once Jo compiled her lists into one, she struggled going from one shop to another heavily pregnant gathering the many necessary little items. During this time she wished there was a service that took the ‘guess work’ out of setting up the nursery and also delivered all the products to her front door.

Once her first son was born Jo researched and realised there was a hole in the market. Jo developed a business plan using the knowledge she gained from being a mother of two as well as consulting family and friends… and after much research, Baby Setup was born.

Jo is very aware most people (including her), are very nervous about the drop in their income once their bundle of joy arrives. Because of this the Baby Setup box only includes the products the expectant parents will use; with brands they can trust.

Jo’s main objectives when developing the business model were:

This service has to make practical and monetary sense to everyone’s budget while only using products that are 100% safe and reliable; she would only include brands she could trust in the Baby Setup box.

Jo didn’t want to just make life easier for the people who can afford it, she wanted to help all expectant mothers – even the ones on a tight budget. Due to this Baby Setup delivers the product to your doorstep for around the same price you would pay if you did all the running around yourself. Jo has also included a payment plan option to make it even easier at this precious time.

When Jo was at the latter stages of her second pregnancy (an experienced mother) she could also see the benefit of Baby Setup being delivered to her front door … as taking her toddler shopping while heavily pregnant wasn’t an easy task.

Jo is passionate about Baby Setup as she loves helping expectant parents at this special time and knows how much it would have helped her when she was pregnant as it's "taking care of all the little things, it's giving expectant parents confidence, peace of mind and more time to relax before their baby arrives. Jo’s enthusiasm for Baby Setup is driven by knowing with every Baby Setup Box sold .. Baby Setup donates a 'Birthing Kit' through the 'Birthing Kit Foundation (Australia)', giving a mother and her baby in a developing country a better chance to survive.

BABY SETUP - SOCIAL MISSION
Jo Kirby like a lot of people has always wanted to help others especially people in developing countries. She use to feel helpless as she could never find the answer to...."what can I, as one person do to make a difference?"

Because her empathy ran so deeply there was a stage when she had to close her eyes or change channels as couldn't bare to see how others in the world were suffering. It is just so unfair that what she could take for granted (as an Australian), others in the world weren't being given what she considered their basic human right...

With it always playing on her subconscious it was only after she had her first child Jo had a business idea that would help Australian Expectant Mothers and in turn those Australian women (Baby Setup Mum's) would help Expectant Mothers and their babies in developing countries have a better chance to survive.

That business idea eight years ago would become "Baby Setup".

BABY SETUP - SOCIAL MISSION - COMMITMENT

WITH EVERY BABY SETUP BOX WE SELL, BABY SETUP WILL DONATE A 'BIRTHING KIT'
THROUGH THE "BIRTHING KIT FOUNDATION (AUSTRALIA)",
GIVING A MOTHER AND HER BABY IN A DEVELOPING COUNTRY
A BETTER CHANCE TO SURVIVE.

In developing countries every 90 seconds a woman dies of complications related to pregnancy and childbirth (est. 385,000 annually). Many women die from infections acquired during childbirth; there is a great need for clean birthing kits. The birthing kits address the 7 cleans needed for a safe delivery. The kits are basic with 6 items: a plastic sheet; soap; 2 gloves sterile scalpel blade; 3 cords and 5 gauze squares. By providing a clean birthing kit and training in how to use it, these mothers and babies will have the resources to reduce infection, giving them a better chance to survive.

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world;

indeed it is the only thing that ever does." quote Margaret Mead

Who are we as Human Beings... if we ignore the suffering of others?
